ONGOING PROJECTS
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SCHEME
The Artist in Residence Scheme is an initiative of the Jersey Arts Trust and has been designed to promote artists providing them with the platform to create new work. It is part of the Jersey Arts Trust's commitment to develop greater opportunities for the creation, participating and enjoyment of the arts.
The Jersey Arts Trust is launched its three months rolling Artist in residency scheme in September with local artist Rob Allen.
Rob Allen
Rob's main focus of study during his residency will be group artwork and the processes and outcome of audience participation in producing art.
During his education he was greatly inspired by artists Adele Dark and Jacqui Rutter, who taught him at Hautlieu. He went on to study a BA (hons) Fine Art at Falmouth College of Arts during which he was offered the amazing opportunity of studying in Milan. Part of his interest area is inviting audience participation in his work and using the unpredictability as his tool to create new art work. Since finishing his degree in June he has completed various projects including an exhibition commissioned by St Thomas Church.
One of his interactive projects during his residency was providing a Graffiti wall at the Jersey Live Festival. Rob invited people to contribute to his two 8ft canvases and put the outcome of artwork in the hands of festival goers. He is also spending time working with schools on sculpture and painting projects with a final exhibition of his and his fellow participating artists work in November in the Whitespace Gallery at the Jersey Potteries.
